There was a change to drinking habits in early 2005 when Magners launced its cider brand to the U.K, trying to change the “country-bumpkin”, old school image associated with previous brands and stereotypical cider drinkers.
Available in 4 varieties ( Original, Magners Light, Magner Pear Cider and Magners Golden Draught ) Magners differs from other cider brands because they use juice from 17 varities of carefully selected apples, which is then fermented in oak vats for up to 2 years, prompting their advertising phrase; “There’s method in the Magners”.
The story began in 1935 when William Magner from Clonmel, Tipperary decided he wanted to try and create the world finest cider. And indeed he may have, Magners is now available in 17 countries including Finland, Portugal and Cyprus.
In fact when Magners was launched across the pond in New York and Boston, 2 million bottles sold in just 3 months. With a strength of 4.5%, Magners is perfect served over ice and has a crisp, refreshing taste, and a golden, amber colour.
Recent research has shown that cider has a number of antioxidants and can be compared to wine for it’s “health” properties.
And the Magners brand enhances it’s exposure as the official team sponsor of London Wasps Rugby Club, official partner of the Scottish Golf Union and is the official cider of Dundee Football Club.
